Our Team

Our team here at First Baptist Church of Vidalia, Louisiana realizes that we cannot do this on our own, but we depend on one another's strengths as we work together, in Christ, to serve God and the community around us.

Dr. wes faulk, senior pastor

Wes loves the Word of God and is committed to loving and leading the body of Christ in his role as senior pastor.  He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Languages from Howard Payne University and a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He also has a Doctor of Ministry in Church Revitalization from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He lives his life adhering to Philippians 3:7-8, counting all but loss compared to knowing Christ.

Wes is married to Jenn, and they have two daughters, Ana and Emma.  He is a native Texan, a lifelong San Antonio Spurs fan, an Ironman, and the most adventurous eater in the Miss-Lou.

Jase Ellis, discipleship pastor

Jase is committed to seeing the church grow through discipleship and leads both students and adults alike through Biblical teaching, equipping them for Gospel ministry both at home and to the nations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from McNeese University and a Masters of Divinity in Islamic Studies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is passionate about teaching Scripture and mobilizing the church to go and share the Gospel all over the world.

Jase is married to Misti, and they have two children, Norah and Finn. He is originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana and enjoys hunting and fishing.

Matt duff, worship pastor

Matt is passionate about leading people into corporate praise and using his gifts to creatively encourage and equip the church to share Christ. He holds a Bachelor of Christian Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, along with additional training in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Christian Education from Trinity Seminary and is excited about further educating people to be God's ambassadors in their realms of influence.

Matt is married to Hannah, and they have two sons, Eli and Asher. He is originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and enjoys coaching sports and writing and recording music.

Carrie Vest, Children's minister

Carrie loves children and is committed to creating a fun and engaging environment at FBCV so that kids of all ages are able to form a solid foundation in Christ. She uses her gifts in ministry to help equip parents to lead their children closer to Christ, focusing not only on children's activities and Bible study but on whole families coming together for Gospel ministry. Her favorite verse is Romans 8:28, and she is confident of God's goodness and His active presence in our lives.

Carrie is married to Frank, and they have four children, Chris, Landon, Breanna, and Emma. She's originally from Greenwood, Mississippi and enjoys spending time shopping and visiting with friends. She's an enthusiastic advocate for foster parenting and adoption, a proud Air Force mom, and a friend and mentor to many mothers at FBCV.

allie laborde,

church Secretary

Allie loves her church and uses her gifting not only in her service as the church secretary but also as a Sunday school teacher and a leader in ministry at FBCV. Her passion is to see lives changed with the Gospel, and she is actively involved in prison ministry in the Miss-Lou community.

Allie is a beloved mother and grandmother, not only to her own family, but to many young families at FBCV.

mitzi Roby Slatten,

financial secretary

Mitzi loves the Lord and serves Him with excellence in her role as financial secretary at FBCV. In addition to her work in administration, she also leads the church in worship as a member of the praise team. 

Mitzi and her husband Jason live in Natchez, MS, right across the Mighty Mississippi.  They are the parents of Claire Hendricks of Vidalia, LA, as well as Caitlyn Roby Martin and her husband Matthew of Shreveport. They are also the proud grandparents of a beautiful baby girl, Evie.  She and her family really treasure time spent together.  Mitzi is a lifelong resident of the Miss-Lou and a friend both to her church and the community.

Sylvia strahan,

office secretary

Sylvia has been a part of FBCV for over thirty years and loves her church family. She's a retired teacher who uses her gifts not only in the church office but also as a Sunday school teacher, a nursery volunteer, and a greeter, spending her time in service and ministry to the church and community.

Sylvia is married to Bo, and they are blessed with adult children and many grandchildren. She is an encourager and friend to families at FBCV.
